Default VSC, VCS OFF and Check Engine Light

all came on a few minutes ago while out for a Sunday afternoon drive. Depressing/releasing the "VSC OFF" button multiple times did nothing. All 3 lights now stay on. Checked the manual which said to take in to Lexus dealer asap but could continue driving....something about vehicle stability control system not activating. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with this, is it major or minor issue? Can I get my Goodyear guy to fix this? Really hate to waste money on a Lexus dealer visit, seem like they overcharge for everything they do, even minor stuff. I would certainly appreciate any advice you folks could give me. About 3 weeks ago I did hook up a battery charger, a Battery Tender to offset a parasitic battery drain I was experiencing...could this have caused my new problem? Thanks again for any ideas/suggestions. Typo in heading...both should read "VSC"

It sounds to me like an O2 sensor is bad. This has not occurred in my sc430 but the identical thing you described has occurred multiple times in my sc400 and it has always been an O2 sensor. Both these cars have 4 sensors and it should be very easy to hook up the diagnostic tool and pull the code that tells you what sensor is bad. Good luck.

I had the same symptoms with my 2004 SC430. ScanTool showed a P0420 code, Left Bank Catalytic Converter Inefficient.. Turned out to be the converter ( $$$ ) . Hopefully you have a different code and it's just an O2 sensor or something less expensive.

For anyone else that is having a similar problem, I recently had to change my O2 sensor also, but ONLY the Check Engine Light was lit. A week after the O2 sensor change, when I was replacing the halogen headlights for Xenon, I naturally had to remove the air filter housing and Mass Air Sensor. Once reassembling the filter I started the car and found the Check Engine, VSC, and VSC Off Lights to all come on. I freaked out but decided to do a battery disconnect before heading to the dealer. Fingers crossed, I waited 2 minutes and then reconnected the battery. Everything returned to normal. Just saying.
