Default IPod with cassette player

I play my iPod using the cassette player. I usually turn off the iPod when I exit the car but was wondering if the iPod continues to play and discharge it's battery. Is there any problem with keeping it turned on? Will this, in some way, discharge the car battery? I haven't had any battery problems since I purchased the car last March.

When you shut down your car, all power to the Radio is shut as well. Other than your Ipod battery wearing out, you will not hurt the car.

Why don't you get a kit for input to your SC430? They are cheaper nowadays...$100 and they have controls via the radio and steering wheel switches. Bought mine for $150 a year ago and I do not have functionalty in controls, but till like it better than the cassette player.

the iPod won't do anything to discharge the battery. You'll just be wasting the iPod battery, I suggest you just upgrade to a Single DIN with USB, to charge your iPod. its not that expensive.

Your Ipod adapter (this is the kit I am recommending) will do it as well, Plug and Play.

Mandyfig, I am unfamiliar with the adapter you are referring to. Can you provide a link or picture?

You can simply type in: Lexus SC430 Ipod Adapter in Utub and you will get a ton of hits.

If you are going to use an iPod and the cassette player, which I have been doing for many years, then get a USB socket that plugs into the lighter. This keeps the iPod fully charged all the time (as it will play and charge at the same). Should you forget to Pause the iPod, it might play the battery down to zero, but it will be fully operative once you start up the car again.
Highly recommended, and not very expensive - and you can charge your iPhone also.

Yes, that's what I've done. Except for the view of the wires, it works very well.

Barncat. You can plug the USB adapter into the power socket in the centre consule and then you won't see the wires. That is if you keep the iPod in the centre consule as I do.
I run the wire from the cassette down the side of the centre consule so it is almost invisilble too.

Best regards
Steve

Thanks Steve, I haven't done that and it is a good idea! I'll give it a try.

I am now streaming music wirelessly via Bluetooth from my iPhone and I ABSOLUTLY love it. I drove about 2 hours yesterday up the beach with the top down with some nice music playing. Life is good.

Here is the thread I posted.

Here is a picture of my center console with the Blackberry Bluetooth Gateway and USB dual charger.
