Default iPhone interface / Pandora etc Question

I've searched and read but I'm confused. Perhaps someone can clarify what I need.

My 2008 SC 430 factory ML radio. I would like to be able to connect the iPhone to radio to play Pandora Radio or stored music when traveling.

What exactly do I need to install to accomplish this? Vais tech, etc.

Also does it connect via the iPhone jack or the 3.5mm stereo jack?

Anybody care to comment on Vaistech? If so which model?

Thanks in advance.

Jerry

I posted this back in 2010 just after purchasing an '06 SC430.

As posted recently, I purchased a MultiMediaLinQ - High-End Digital Audio Interface Adapter from Vais Technology and had it installed. Here is the link to the adapter: http://www.multimedialinq.com/vml.php. I’m very happy with it’s performance.

Rather than put in the glove box, they ran the USB cable into my center consol where it cannot be seen and easily accessed. More specifically they ran the cable through right next to the charger, a very clean installation. Now I can play digital music from a memory stick and also an Ipod.

I also did this because sooner of later, it’s simply a matter of time, one of the CD’s will get stuck and send an error message to the unit. And lets’ face, CD’s will be obsolete within the very near future IMO. By the way, I know it’s not sure-fire approach, but I’ve heard if CDs do get stuck and the error 3 message is displayed, that if you disconnect the battery for 15 minutes or so, it may fix the problem. Don’t quote me on this, but it’s what I learned from one technician.

Since 2010, my wife does use her iPhone 4s and for some unknown reason to me or Vais, she can stream Pandora internet radio through it, I cannot on my iPhone which is identical to her's, but she is much more persistent. If she used my phone, she could probably get mine to work. I'm happy connecting a USB that contains over 50 cd's. The only draw back is that you do not see alpha characters, it's purely numerical, but much better than using CD's. I also think ipod works without a hitch.

The low tech route is to get a cassette adapter with the 3.5mm plug. Fits right into the iPhone jack. Then set it in the iPhone holder ( aka, cup holder). Not overly elegant, but works well for my wife to be able to play her music.

Update;

I now can steam audio from my iPhone to my SC 430 factory audio system wirelessly via Bluetooth.

Here's what I did.

I bought a Vaistech SL2U directly from Vaistech ($150)
Had local Best Buy store install it with a female 3.5mm jack mounted in the center console ($50 + $10 tip)

Bought additional parts from my other thread in the LS 460 Forum
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...bluetooth.html

Blackberry Bluetooth Gateway from Amazon ($30)
StarTech.com 1 feet Slim 3.5mm to Right Angle Stereo Audio Cable - (Amazon, $4.54)
StarTech 1-Feet Mini USB 2.0 Cable - A to Mini B (USB2HABM1) Amazon $4.69
Mediabridge High Output Dual USB Car Charger For iPad and iPhone (Amazon $12.99)

Now I'm able to play Pandora radio, iPod music, iPod music from my iPhone wirelessly to my factory radio. The sound quality is excellent.
