Default How long does your remote battery last?

How often do you replace the battery in your remote key for your SC430?

How long does the battery last before it goes dead?

The battery is a lithuim CR1616 3 volt. They cost maybe $ 3.00 I change mine once a year. Why wait for it to go bad

Thanks....

With the SC, a failure of the battery in the key fob is not critical. The battery should last multiple years as the only time there is any drain is when you push one of the remote buttons. My Ford Expedition remote battery lasted 7 years before it started to show signs of the battery needing replacement.

The SC will still start normally with a dead fob battery. My LS and CT needs a good fob battery in order for the push to start switch to operate normally. These are more critical

I will probably leave spare batteries in the glove boxes of each car.

Amazon has a 5 pack of the CR1616's for $5.16 with free shipping.

I have an 06 and I just replaced my batteries this past week. I could tell they were getting weak since I had to be very close to the car for it to operate the door lock.

Generally speaking they usually last for 3 or even 5 years. At one point I thought I'd replace them every year, but that's too frequently, even though it's not much of a hassle. Now I just wait until I feel that the remote range is starting to decrease, and change them then.
As noted above, they take standard batteries readily available at Radio Shack.

How long the battery lasts all depends on your use profile. If you use the remote to open your windows and trunk a lot, the battery will go out sooner. If you use cheap batteries from questionable ebay sources, your battery will likely not last long (been there, done that...).

Usually my batteries last several years, but when I use them a lot (as mentioned above) and have cheap batteries in them, they tend to go out in about a year.

My husband took our ES in for 30k maintenance and Lexus changed both batteries for us. It is also one that needs the battery to start. It gives you a warning when the battery is low.
