Default 'Tune' the sound system?

just wondering if someone knows if the SC430 OEM sound system can be 'tuned.'

you know, is there software, patch or a way to 'equalize' the bass?

out of the box, the bass is boomy, fuzzy and dirty.

my ML320 truck's sound system is much cleaner.

any ideas?

First of all, are you sure all the speakers are in good shape?
when I bought my SC last year, the sub, both 6x9 (doors) and both rear speakers were shot! No impressed at all by ML!

no rattling or distortions or flapping.

just muffled and too full, poor bass definition.
other 430ers have said the same.
unfortunately, replacing the ML system is a real pain.

Believe me, I know how complex it is to replace the ML. That's the solution I chose... The only way I see to improve the sound of the ML would be to add an EQ. But I don't know if it can be done?

Sorry I can't help much on this one.

We have the limited low-mid-high settings on the radio-cd. So good luck finding the sweet spot for you.

well, we all have those OEM settings.
I've fiddle with them endlessly and still can't stand the
bass quality.

You can always install a potentiometer on the sub... But this will only attenuate the sound level.

I found the best music sound quality is:
bass 0
mid max
treb max

but my truck sound system beats the ML any day.

best bet is upgrade and add a small sub and use your ML speakers and Amp for just the mids and highs. I added 1 JL 10w1 in a tubed enclosure and i run my bass @ negative 3 and my mids and highs are up all the way. Sounds excellent.

There is one more option for ya and I don't know if its possible with the SC430, but in my IS300, I added an external audio input for my MP3 player... not just a run of the mill ipod though, its an Iaudio player, which are well known for the superb sound quality... One of the reasons they sound so good is their extensive, customizable EQ, DSP settings, and other settings that affect sound quality. So, although my IS's stock system is pretty clean, using that as my source gives me just that much more control over the sound... Its pretty amazing the difference it makes even... Not to mention I almost exclusively use FLAC audio files which are much better quality than the all-too-common downloaded MP3 files...

yup, it will work for you:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...xus-sc430.html

Just don't get the USB or the Ipod one because neither will help with sound quality, you need a really good MP3 player such as Iaudio (there are others, but, since I've bought my Iaudio, many people around me have done the same because they are sooo much better than what everyone is used to in a portable media player)... off top of my head, the Sansa Clip (tiny) has a pretty good sound quality to it as well...
