Question Another Speaker Question...Yeah, yeah...I know

I have spent the past hour trolling around the speaker replacement threads and I was hoping I could get to a more definitive answer:

For those of you who have replaced (not repaired) your 6x9s, what did you use or what would you recommend? I am open to 6.5s with an adapter or 6x9s...I am not interested in the DC brand.
Thanks!

I just replaced mine with these: http://www.simplyspeakers.com/replac...er-w-6028.html I got the bass back, and am very pleased with the sound. $35 each. As you can see they are 6.5", so I used this adapter: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...OC%3AUS%3A1123 There were no other parts needed. The adapter hole for the speaker was a bit too small, but I used a pocket knife to whittle it out. Other posts can tell you how to get to the speakers. The only thing I can add is by using a knife to dig out the pop pins you can get them out without breaking them. Pop out the pins about 1/3 inch and then the whole thing will come out. I had to remove them several times and didn't break them. I hope this helps

7 inch Dynaudios. They're shallow. Just make an adapter plat.

DC golds are great, they are boat speakers so you can hear very clear with the top down on the highway. They are an easy drop in with no mods. make sure you get the proper ohms though.
Now I'm looking to replace the sqwakers, the 4.5cm mids/vocal speaker. Anyone here have any suggestions? (I dont mean to steal your thread 007)

buy a complete 3 way component speaker + aftermarket amp and call it a day. do it right. or fix the old speakers with silicone. works best with the factory system. I have the DC golds and i don't recommend it. one side cone blew on me already in months into ownership. 200+ on these speakers.. i wish i went with a 3 way component for 200 more
