Nice install. A little annoying that you have to register with the site just to see the pics though.

Here's the thread on my CarPC installation...

I've since replaced the mousepad on the center console with a Space Navigator controller. Much easier to control the CarPC (the controller basically just executes keyboard-shortcut commands).

To switch between the factory navigation screen and the secondary input on the NavTool, I wired up a nifty (if I do say so myself!) way to switch the inputs.

See this thread for the details.

And, to see the whole setup in action, here's a YouTube video that was shot of me and the car during the first annual Mp3Car.com AFKFest.

OK, my own horn officially tooted.

Habious it was your idea that made me go out a do this install.

Great work.

I order a few extra like the Sat Nav software and module and slu audio unit as i dont like using the tape cassette.
Also i will be using the Logitech diNovo Mini Bluetooth Handheld Media Keyboard

The Vais SLU ain't cheap but, it's SOOO much nicer than the tape deck interface!

I'll be curious to hear your review of the keyboard. I've had a hard time finding one small enough to stuff somewhere in the car, but big enough to be of some use.

I have this super-mini gaming USB keyboard in the center console. Fortunately, I don't need it very often. But, it's nice to have when you're scrolling through your mp3 list and went to get from the "A's" to the "R's" in a hurry. But, it's so small that it only has letters, numbers, and most symbols. So...no "Alt" and no "Ctrl". This can be VERY annoying sometimes!

My friend recommend the key pad to me as he said its a great little key board and having blue tooth helps a great deal.

The only down side i have encountered so far is its hard to read the text on the pc screen other than when you use CF System.
Is this a issue with your system?

Yup. Same problem. The NavTool is only a composite input...and the factory screen just isn't super-high resolution.

I have a shortcut on the desktop to the "Windows Magnifier". If I really need to see details outside of Centrafuse (the front end software - details for the non-CarPC guys), I'll use that.

But, once all of the glitches got ironed out, I haven't really had to mess with Windows much.

I have just ordered the steering wheel controller, this allow you to use the controller to move CF.

I am thinking of pulling out the factory screen to use a touch screen instead.

Have you thought of going this way?

Do you have details...or a link...for the steering wheel controller? I'd like to check it out.

I use the factory nav still so, if I pulled the nav screen and replaced it with a hi-res touchscreen, I'd loose this ability. Everything's a compromise.
