10mm wrench to loosen and remove battery retaining bar.
10mm wrench to loosen terminal clamps.. replace battery.. black goes to (-) and Red goes to (+)

Is that what you're after?

After installation of a new battery, i had to reset my seating positions and my clock.
Total job is like 5-10 minutes.

Most places that sell batteries should be able to install it properly, unless you do a buy and carry type purchase. Sears did mine and I didn't have to reset anything because they know how to maintain the voltage to the car when swapping out the battery.

Not such a silly question, with all these electronics on cars you never know what will happen when you pull the juice.

I changed the battery on my Range Rovers key and everything shut down

Yeah, you may have to reset the homelink too and your presets on the stereo, but not a big deal. I actually used to laugh at people who paid someone to install these but when my 02 SC's died, I had a full warranty and free roadside assistance and a friendly starbucks I was stranded at had free wifi, so I let them come out.

An hour later, $300, I was off in my new battery-SC!

If you buy a red optima battery, WATCH OUT for the terminals, for whatever reason, the optima battery terminals are reversed...

I took mine to Sears about 3 months ago and they did a good job. The only thing I had to reset was the radio stations. No problem with the seats or homelink.

I believe after they looked it up they said they only carried one battery for the SC. Seems like it had the word "International" in it. Of course, it was one of the most expensive ones. But....it should last awhile. I've always found Diehards pretty hard to beat, and if they go out before they are supposed to, Sears prorates it with no hassle and makes things easy.

I had my battery replaced at the dealer recently. When I looked at the completed job I noticed the battery cover was missing. They explained that replacement batteries were not always the same size as OEM and the covers may not fit. They had been instructed to throw them out. I had them go get it and I put it back on at home. They said as long as it wasn't a tight fit on the battery it would be fine. Why they didn't check the fit and reinstall it I do not know.

you probably bought the wrong one.
you should buy the red optima that has a model number ending with R.
R stands for reversed terminals.
