What kind of fiddling were you doing?

I agree with Harold57...what kind of fiddling?
Did you have the radio out? Did the AM antenna possibly get unplugged from the back of the head unit? Or are we just talking about "button fiddling" with the radio?

i did take out the radio before but i am 100% sure i plugged the antenna wire back in.. (i believe it was a black wire that plugged into the back of the radio)I used to go thru tunnels with the FM radio still clear but now i've gotten bad reception thru tunnels and lost all of AM..i guess ill have to open it up again and check the wires..arghhhhhhhhhhhh

You will get limited FM reception without the antenna plugged in but you will not get any AM. I think you have figured out the problem. Don't feel bad. I think this has happened at least once to everyone that has a removed a radio at least once in their lifetime. Now we check and double check.
