Bad reception from AM radio
I've been getting real bad reception on my AM radio. It gets really bad under overpath and inside tunnels. I need this every morning to catch the traffic report. Does anyone know how I can test this to see whats wrong and how I can fix it.
As always many thanks

AM as a mode is very sussuptible to electrical noise (Amplitude modulation and noise changes the signal).
With your and other cars on the road, their spark signals, specially their reflections [steel structure ... buildings as well as mixed in concrete (bridges/overpass)] really take a toll on the signal.
Try going out to open country (really rural) and there your reception would be OK. If not then check for a loose antenna wire (but I seriously doubt that is the problem).

In Mexico, I tried my AM this morning (though my antenna almost never goes up since I have been using XM Radio), and it sounded fine, no static and I could understand even the mumbling Spanish.
I remember after I installed the ground wires, the sound improved a little.

My AM raido is bad in most area, it almost like the thing is not even connected. This was not the case until 6 months ago when my car was in the shop for a real bad noise coming from the dasd. They did tell me that they had open up the dasd to put more insulation. Thats why I thought maybe at that time the radio connection might of gotten disconnected or something in that matter.
BTW, I use the AM radio for traffic report everyday as far as I remember how to drive.
Thanks

I can't believe more people don't have an issue with these radios. I love everything about this Lexus, but the radio stinks
And it's designed into the dash so, far as I know, you can't replace it with an aftermarket.

What issues are you having with the radio specifically?
