Default passanger door lock/unlock questions

O.k.

I am hoping there is some sort of coding change that can be done for this...

I've noticed that the doors lock when you move in gear which doesn't bother me.... I also noticed that I can still open the driver's door if/when it is locked (which is also a good thing and doesn't bother me)...

BUT my passanger cannot just open the door like on the driver's side when it is locked..

So my question is:

Is there a code to unlock the doors when in park? OR is there a way to set up the car to allow the passanger to open the door when it is locked from the inside just like on the driver side?

Yes there is. Look at the FAQ's about the SC430 and one of the members posted the C-Best options that help control what the door lock settings are as well as a whole bunch of things. Take a look but you dealer can change it for you.

Are you sure it's free?
My dealer said they'd charge me $50 for up to 5 C-BEST changes.
Labor charges only, I'm sure.

When my car is in for service, my dealer has done many changes for me. From the locking of the doors to the amount of time that the lights stay on after you remove the key. I guess every dealer is different, but that is the case with mine. Have you asked for the changes during a service ot just stopped in and requested the changes. Once they have the computer hooked up to the car to check for codes and other things, its just a point and click away.

Yup like DropTop430 said most Lexus dealers will do this one time for free.. So take a peek at the FAQ at what you want to change, make a list then on your next service visit just ask and they will perform the change for you.. If they won't and there is another dealer around you might want to try them..

My service tech said they charge to make C-BEST changes because they've had problems with customers who have changes made, then come in the next week and have it changed back, then another change/change-back, etc.

He also believed that the C-BEST options list isn't really provided to customers (unless you've got a cool service mgr or tech).
Lucky us...

Of course, if the customer asks about it, they'll tell.

FYI:

With regard to passenger door not opening when locked. This feature was not included in the early sc430, but was added during the december 2001 production. For those of you with the first coupes, this feature won't work. If your coupe was produced after 12/01, then it will.

2 cents...

Where I work we do c-best changes all the time for FREE. They don't sound very customer friendly.
