our engine...
is an interference engine. i couldn't remember which thread this was being discussed in. so i made a new thread. but i wrote lexus about a week ago asking if it's an interference or non-interference engine. i'd read conflicting information on the net. originally, they didn't answer the question. but after i repeated it, they sent this reply:

what that means for us is that the timing belt service is very important. if it breaks, your engine will essentially be ruined.
