New Engine in 2016 MY?
I don't think it will happen for 2016 MY. Knowing Lexus it sounds overly optimistic. If Lexus puts twin turbo engine however I will come back no questions asked. This chassis begs for a more powerful higher torque engine. This is my personal opinion though. Those who have inside knowledge are very welcome to share more info with us
That would make sense. The 250 makes such little power for how much fuel it consumes. The twin-turbo would be a significantly better engine for it.
The current 2.5l is great for what it is in the application it is intended for. Daily driver, good highway response, smooth but not fast acceleration. The only thing it lacks in, is fuel efficiency.

here's my guess based on what i've read so far. MY2016 IS200T will replace IS250 but IS350 will remain the same. MY2017 IS350 will get a more powerful 3.5L V6 along with MMC for the entire IS lineup.
We traded an 2011 RX350 and a 2012 IS250rwd for a 2015 NX and a 2015 IS250awd both in F-Sport trim in March. Having driven them both back to back and on various highway, street traffic and work commute situation I can honestly say that the 2l Turbo is a little underpowered for the NX. It may be fine as a replacement for the 2.5l V6 for the IS, but that is only because the IS is about 400lbs lighter and the current 2.5 is so inefficient as it is.

I agree NX need more power. In fact, the whole Lexus line need more power!
Lexus make an excellent exterior and interior for the new generation. Almost all of them LOOKS very fast. It just lack of horsepower and torque when comparing to BMW.
May be I am giving up a little performance for reliability.
I can forgive 250 for having less power as it is suppose to be a less power trim.
However, the 350 is not an excuse. It need at least 30 lb ft more to complete with others.
Although my source was from my dealer, don't trust any information from the dealer. It would never be accurate.
Just wait for Lexus Canada's announcement.
