Unhappy HELP HELP URGENT Gear problem!!!!

Hi,
Today I drove my car to work (about 50 mile) no problem at all, but when I reached the parking and tried to shift the gear leaver to P , the gear moved very easy as if it is broken and in the dash it was still on D !!!
I triad again moving it back to D and then to P but and it moves very fast as if it is not connected to anything and in the dash it’s D always.
After many tries I found out that it only shifts to either D or 4 !! P, R, N can not be engaged!
The gear shift leaver if swinging between P, R, N and hold only on D and 4.
There is a strange noise coming from underneath the car when I shift the gear as if there is a stick and it is flowing free in the gearbox!!

Please help me as the car is in the parking slot underground and no recovery car can get in to take it out. The car does not start as it is on D!!
What could be wrong??! How can I move the car out of the Parking?!

there is a small slot on the face plate of the shifter asemble. Look in the manual it is an emergency slot to put a flat bladed scre driver into to shift the transmission.

Good luck

I would call a mobile auto mechanic if a tow truck couldn't get in.

Would be my first call. Couple of linkages down there that can come loose, break, bend, etc. Hope you got it all worked out. Sounds like an easy fix though.

Some tow companies have special tow trucks which are low enough to access underground parking decks -- you might have to call around to find one. Alternatively, you could rent a tow dolly if you have a friend with a hitch:
