Default Wind Blocker (mesh type)?

I'm looking for a wind-blocker, like the ones commonly seen on the MBZ SL.

I've found this wind blocker out there, but it looks like it was made for a different vehicle and they bodged up a strap arrangement to hold it in place on the SC -- I don't think it looks good at all. (See especially this photo.)

They've done a good job of photoing around the straps and so forth, but I don't like the gaps and straps.

There's a different one shown here and a variation of it here(PDF). This one looks decent, but it's in Switzerland.

Probably the best looking one is seen in this discussion at euro.lexusownersclub.com (which might be clearer if I could read German.) GoogleTranslate does a decent job on it, but it then tells me that these folks got it through their Lexus of Europe dealer, which doesn't help much.

Anybody have a clue where to find a decent domestic version, or an importer of one of the better Euro ones? Thanks.

I am interested in this also....if anyone has one of the ones in the picture, I really would like to know how it works...do the straps get in the way of putting things in the back seat?
Thanks

One of the guys on here has the windscreen on his SC 430. I can't think at the moment who it is but I am sure he will speak up when he sees this post. Did you try doing a search for wind screen?

I think the big advantage to the one that uses the straps is that it requires no modification to the car. The unit in your German post requires you to mount brackets on the car (a.k.a. drill holes into the car), which is why most have shied away from that.

The one with straps only has 4 straps, I think. 2 of these are buried under the unit, attaching the windscreen to the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) points and the other two go over the rear headrests.

Here's MrBlister's thread on the "strap" one; very thorough, with pictures and his comments on installing and using it.

I have the windscreen from the ebay vendor. If you do a search my thread will pop up and there were pictures on there I took. My car is still in the garage waiting for winter to leave . I have been using it prior to laying the car up for winter and I really like it The straps are no problem they dont get in the way of anything. If your going to put any thing on the rear seat you have easy acess to it. The windscreen can stay on the car either up or down
if you have the top up you cant lower the windscreen if top is down you can raise it or lower. It hinges and folds down on it self . I found it to be well made and looks good and most importantly there is a definite improvement in wind control when top is down. The only modification I did when installing it was I used black foam squares to rest the windscreens legs on so it would not leave any marks or depressions in the boot where it rests. To recap you can operate the top up or down when the windscreen is in place. You just cant fold it down if the top is up. I will check and see if I have any other pics to post.

mrblister, thanks for your response and writeup. I... dunno; I'm not very excited by the gap that results.

It just looks -- unfinished, designed for something else and adapted. I'll think about it -- meantime, anyone know about sources for the Euro one, or similar?
