Default Daytime Running lights

Hello everybody,

I had a question, I noticed on my SC430 that the Daytime Running Lights are flickering. Is this normal? I hope its not a bad alternator or something that I need to replace. The indash lights all have a solid lighting. No signs of flickering. Does anybody had this problem with their SC before? Any comments would be nice.

Thank you.

I notice mines kinda flicker but it could be the vibration from the engine? I mean its not like it shuts off and on. I bought my car brand new and that was one of the first things I noticed.

Hi VIPsc430. The reason you're not seeing much response here, is because most of us had our DRL's disabled.

I can tell you mine never flickered in the week I had them on. And other than KevsSC's statement above, I've never heard anyone bring it up. It's definitely not a common problem here.

Maybe one of our electrical geniuses will speculate on the cause...

I see. Well thanks for commenting guys. How do you disable the DRL? I might take that in consideration. I appreciate your comments and help once again.

Thank you guys!

A variety of settings can be modified using a handheld scan tool and appropriate program card. Please see the attachment.

The attachment apparently can not be uploaded due to the limits of this forum. I did not notice the error message:

"2002 SC430 LPS settings.pdf:
Your file of 477.1 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 390.6 KB for this filetype."

Other Lexus forums have far higher attachment limits -- more like 4 megabytes -- and allow multiple attachements to a post.

There's a 2008 LPS Settings doc here...

I dont think its worth buying a handheld device. Just take the car to a dealer and they can turn it off under the c-best settings. I should think most dealers would do it FOC.

Thats if you want it turned off, the lights should not flicker. Could be a faulty bulb.
