Default Interior Cover?

Wondering if anyone has used an interior cover (car cover that just covers the cockpit), and their thoughts on if they're any good? Thinking of using one instead of putting the top up and down every night. Thoughts?

To me it would be more work using the cover. I just tap the button twice and there it goes. Why waste time and money with a soft cover.

I had one on my old BMW 328 convertible and used it a few times in the summer to keep the heat off of the leather (the top would also heat the car up). It slipped over the windshield, velcro straps over the mirrors, and the rear had tabs that you put under the trunk edge (which also sorta locked the cover down to prevent theft).

I'm with GammaLex - it's just easier (and MUCH more secure) to put the hardtop up.

Thumbs up Pictures

So I ended up buying the interior cover, and thought I'd post pictures for anyone interested. It's not meant to be secure, but to keep moisture/dust out it works great. And, as I'm hearing more about top failures, it beats putting the top up and down multiple times per day (for me, at least). Pls excuse the messy garage, but I haven't been able to get time to take pretty pictures. The cover has velcro for over the mirrors and door handles, as well as for the wipers (I don't use that one) and it secures under the trunk lid with little plastic holders -- I find it much easier to just put a 1lb exercise bean back/weight on the deck lid. Takes about 1 minute to remove, maybe 2 minutes max to put on. Enough rambling:

Could you raise the windows with this cover or is it designed for down position only!... BTW sweet choice.

Windows down only. I actually use it in my garage, too, since I park next to the water heater and had a leak in a prior heater years back. I envisioned what would have happened to an open convertible, so this cover helps me sleep at night

Do you live around Northridge?

I was at the gym (la fitness) the other day and I saw an SC with the same type of cover on it, it caught my attention because I have never seen anything else like it.

Nope, Sherman Oaks. I haven't seen anyone else with one of these -- good to know I'm not alone.

then there is someone else doing the exact same thing as you, I thought his roof might have stopped working so thats why he used such a cover but now it makes sense.

I've been thinking about carrying a tarp after a slight (but quickly resolved) problem with the top going up during a pop-up heavy thunderstorm. I would like something big enough to cover even if the top was halfway up.

Bought it at http://www.carcoverkingdom.com/specialty-car-covers.php

Roughly $100 for the Weatherguard HP version. Paid another $6 for the storage bag (same site), and $12 for the soft ankle weights at target. The weatherguard folds up the smallest of the various materials, which is why I chose it (folds to 6"X10"x2"). Pretty cheap IMO.
