I understand your skepticism on the subject but just go and check it out. It’s not like doing so will blow you motor or anything. Worst case scenario you flood the engine with a little bit too much gas and you have a rough start. I would try it but I am not near my car at the moment and won’t be until later on. I don’t even know how you would be ale to tell if you’ve done it correctly, but that’s a whole other story.

Tried it aswell but with no results. Is there an alert or light on the dash to let you know if its completed? I reset the battery the next day and noticed an improvement.

Two things...
First, where is the fuse or relay that you pull to remove the power from the ECT. Any photos?
Second, I think the hope is that the ECT has no stored memory and when it had no power to the unit, it looses all history and therefore must re-learn the drivers driving patterns. I think this is a bit strange, but plausible.

GammaLex - Do you have the LuxLink module? Wondering if that might negate this method...? (Also, no lights to let you know it works.)
DDLexus - The fuses are unfortunately located differently for different year models. I did a search here and thru pictures, fuse names and my manual, was able to figure out which fuses to pull. And yes, your second statement seems to be the theory.

it's amazing! i followed this procedure & been testing it for several days. my car is now noticeably quicker off the line. it's nice to have the car finally adapting to my driving style instead of the previous owner. Thanks!!!!
This method works for me without losing any settings:
1. Get in your car and insert key. (It doesn't matter if you close the door or not.)
2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment.
6. Remove key.
7. Done

Has not been confirmed in this forum, but it should work on any Lexus drive-by-wire system. I used this procedure on my '98 Mercedes. Then I forgot about it after I sold it, and was reminded of it 4 years ago by a Lexus GS owner.
So it should work on an LS, but not confirmed. Let us know your results.
