Default Transmission clunk

Hey everyone, has anyone ever heard a clunk and then have the car feel like something from the inside is trying to stop it when using the paddle shifters in manual mode. Specifically when downshifting from 2 to 1. By the way I did a slight throttle blip, I have done this before with very smooth results but this time it really scared me, I though the transmission broke for a second; when the car did what it did.

I almost never downshift from 2nd to 1st gear - because since the gearing is so low for 1st gear when you can (if you wanted to) downshift to 1st you are already going pretty slow.

You should not be using the throttle yourself when downshifting. Let the car actually do the throttle blip itself. It has way better timing and is smarter and faster than a human.

The car's ECU won't let u do it if it's not safe. These cars are really smart and u can't downshift to 1st gear when going 80 and it will blip the throttle in M mode only and only if needed. Say ur going pretty fast and downshift, it will blip. But if ur slowly coasting and downshift it won't blip.

I do feel it's jerking when going slow from 2nd - 3rd gear and let go of the gas in M mode but no clunking.

When ur in Sport mode and in D, the car will downshift and blip automatically if it senses that ur trying to stop on a dime. Say when ur going 80 and slam ur brakes hard to a stop, it will downshift and blip for u, even if ur in D to help it slow down faster. Like I said, very smart.

Thanks guys this is the first car I own that does that, my old S55 requires you blip it a little so I just did it by habit.

I know exactly what you mean. I have learned to shift from 2 to 1 at around 20-25mph so the car will automatically blip and shift more smoothly. At lower speeds the car doesn't blip correctly and the transmission lurches.

BTW, I have the 6spd. If you have the 8spd you're results may differ.

It works the same, mine is like that too at low speeds.
