Default Error code P0135.. Great

Well after not running the SC for about a month and having to jump start the thing to get it moving again.. my MIL or CEL light comes on.

I bought a scanner today and I'm getting a P0135 code or O2 sensor heater malfuntion for bank 1 sensor 1. Huh?

So how hard is it to replace this sucker as it looks like the wires for the 02 sensors just disappear thru the body or some wiring harness? Anyone else ever get this problem? I keep finding threads about this code for the ES boys but thought I'd ask here first before I go and drop the car off at the mechanic.. Help... Lee.. you out there???

Thanks

P.s. Looks like the Z is getting double duty (heh heh, I said dooty)

Maybe it was coincident.
A few months ago, my engine light lit 5 minutes after I installed Optima Redtop.
The tech extracted code was P0155 (oxygen sensor 1 bank 2).
It cost me $300 to have it replaced.

You probably need the SC430 repair manual for DIY work or Lee can chime in.

I only have the system diagram which won't help you too much, but you can save $100 or so by buying the replacement part somewhere else.

My check engine light is on to...I had a friend check it out and I believe it was engine 1 bank 1 as well. Haven't had a chance to repair it yet.

Thanks guys.. I know the question I posted was pretty specific but figured to see if anyone else has had this problem..

I'm telling you, the day the Z showed up was the same day the SC started acting up. I really do think that there is something to cars being called "her"... (no offense ladies) but man, I really do think the SC is getting jealous..

I guess I'll just shrug it off and take her in. Ouch.. so $300 huh?

Yep, O2 is probably bad. I would first check the wires to make sure they are not cut or frayed from debris or small animals-I have seen it happen.

Not that difficult to change. You can get a universal unit that works fine for $70 or so and just splice it in. I recommend a Bosch or Denso unit.

I believe Bank 1 Sensor 1 is the driver side front O2 sensor in front of the cat by the manifold. This could be a PITA to get to if memory serves. A metal shield covers the connector and makes things tight up in there. A universal would just splice into the wire but the decision is yours which method to go. Either way would work.

Ironically I just installed a Lextreme TC and tranny cooler and I got a CEL. I thought it was the TC but the code came up p0155 o2 heater circuit fault B2S1. Is this also just a O2 sensor going bad or TC related? What do you think LEE?

Passenger side O2 front on the manifold I believe.
This could have been damaged installing the TC as I am not much for believe in coincidences. I would first check the wiring to make sure everything looks ok. Past that a new sensor would be in order.

Thanks Lee for the help. Im going to get it on the rack this weekend. Also i dont notice any real improvement. Im kinda breaking it in while the ecu relearns everything. Do you think the o2 sensor going out is hindering performance? I scanned it and the voltage is alot lower than the rest.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say yeah I think it is effecting performance. Ever since I've gotten the CEL my car hasn't felt very powerful. I won't even break the rears loose now.

Oh and one last thing Gamma.. When you installed the TC, did your battery die? Cause I'm wondering if me trying to start my car like 3 times with a dead battery caused the o2 sensor to bite the dust.. Just a thought.. Oh and thanks Lee.. I may just do the generic o2 sensor...

hey guys i recently had a P0135 trouble code come out..so i bought a new O2 sensor (bank 1 sensor 1) from an autoshop and installed it. i had the check engine light cleared at Autozone, and all seemed fine for the first week. Then today, i turned on my engine and the check engine light turned on again. I checked the code and it was P0135 again! What do you suppose the problem could be? I'm pretty sure I installed the new O2 sensor properly. Is there a possibility that the same trouble code appeared (P0135) when the problem is coming from somewhere else?
