I live in California which is tuff state for Smog checks. In the past, I have had cars fail smog checks due to a check engine light being on. I was wondering will an SC will fail due to the tire pressure light being on?

Has anyone had any experience with this?

It shouldn't be the same issue.
You engine light was on and failed the smog test probably because of bad O2 sensor.
TPMS light is on because of low tire pressure or bad tire sensor.

 

of course no problem. you can even have brake light on and it's still ok. smog check is just like that, smog
