I think these are just different springs and different shock settings. Does anyone know if you could put a rear spring on a front shock? are the front and rear springs the same height? Strange questions I know, but I am trying to make it happen

huge difference. read my thread on tein HA, flex, and CS for the gs in the gs suspension forum.

the HA is very stiff, it's not funny. the CS is a lot softer. i would never get HA again, just way too stiff and you will hurt your butt bad imho. the cs is better. the spring rate on the HA is a lot higher, and the shock dampening is stiffer too.

the ha will allow you to lower the car more (wider range on lowering), but i don't care coz' i can get more than enough lowering with the cs already

i wouldn't put the tein setup from gs on the sc. you can ask lee. and also genearch, he put the tein flex from the gs on the sc430, and the car never drove right until he put on the tein cs on. probably has something to do with the balance of the car

and no you can't swap front and rear springs and such, they are different

thanks alot rominl answered alot of question. Anyways I was planning on getting the same shock and swaping out the springs to the correct Tein CS spring rate. tell me if that sounds feasable. And if the HA's are super stiff you think it would work ok if I lowered the rate to the softest.

Thanks rominl!!!

put it this way. the softest of ha is stiffer than stiffest of flex, and the softest of flex is still stiffer than stiffest of cs.

and putting it (either ha or cs) in the softest setting is no good too, coz' the rebounce would be pretty funny

You can't swap around the springs from front to rear, they are different sizes.

I just ordered some CS's and (like most Tein coilovers) you can go up or down 2kg's in stiffness, though in the rear size, they only offer a spring 1kg softer than the "stock" CS rear spring. ($100 per pair of front or rear springs)

I was considering going with softer springs (it is my Mom's car and she hates the ride) but when comparing the spring rates to stock, the rears are almost the same as stock and the fronts are about 40% stiffer, so I figured that the Tein engineers knew what they were doing and will give them a crack as they are out of the box.

Spring Rates:

Stock
Front 48131-24580 268 lbs/in
Rear 48231-24280 325 lbs/in

CS (SC430)
SM100-01250 10/559 kgf/mm, lbs/in
SK060-01300 6/336 kgf/mm, lbs/in

SS (98-05 GS)
SH140-01200 14/780 kgf/mm, lbs/in
SH120-01200 12/670 kgf/mm, lbs/in

RA (98-05 GS)
SH180-01200 18/1010 kgf/mm, lbs/in
ST120-01175 12/670 kgf/mm, lbs/in

I don't see info on HA's for the GS, but based on the rates for the SS and RA's they might be okay, but it's really hard to tell how they would impact the ride. On both the H-Tech and S-Tech springs offered, they keep the spring rates very close, but stiffer in the front vs. the stock being stiffer in the rear. Even if they fit on the car (the GS uses tapered 70mm to 90mm springs vs. the straight 65mm SC springs) I wouldn't chance completely throwing off the balance of the car.

Your best bet would be to get the CS's, set them on the stiffest setting and pick up the +2kg springs which should be the following.

SM120-01250 12/670 kgf/mm, lbs/in
SK080-01300 8/447 kgf/mm, lbs/in

BTW, I actually found an error on the Tein website while looking at this stuff. It lists the rear spring for the CS on the SC430 as an SK040-01300 which is actually a 4kg spring.
