Default Anyone use Tein SS??

Hey guys anyone use Tein SS here? Had it on my TL and it worked great! Everyone here seems to use the Tein CS which is another $300-500 more or so. Not sure if its worth it. Definately will get EDFC as well. Any inputs is appreciated.

I know you will have to wait on the CS as it is not in stock. I havent heard of the SS though. Is this application for the GS?

really? didn't seem bad at all on the TL at all. Apexi was much harsher than the teins on full hard.

yeah the tein ss is replacement of the tein HA i believe. very stiff. compard to the tein cs i have which really keeps the car luxury ride. i had HA, and then flex, and now the cs. big big difference

i assume you want a stiff ride since you are looking for the SS....if you want a stiff sporty ride...look at the tein HA....if you like the soft and comfortness of stock....go with the CS

I talked to Tein and the SS are exclusively available only in the US. I could not find the specs on HA's so I could not compare the two together. They assured me that the SS is more streetable coilover than the HA's. The HA's were discontinued due to low sales. Got it on order from Carson.. Ill let you guys know the outcome!

I think SS must stand for SUPER STIFF.

The spring rate is a lot stiffer, compared to the Flex and the CS , which are the two most popular Teins.

Model---F/R Spring rate

CS-------500/450 lbs Near or better (some say) than stock.
Flex------560/500 lbs Firm, but streetable, BMW like.
SS-------780/670 lbs You be the Judge.

PS - Henry has no life.

RMM thanks for the response.. I just made a comparison with my old Acura and the Tein CS does have similar spring rate. I just changed my order. Thanks to all!!

Carson Toyota are awesome to deal with.. Unfortunately the DSR strut bar is discontinued

We have to be a little careful when comparing spring rates. The way the shocks part of the coiloer is setup is just as important, if not more. Remember that the EDFC adjusts the valving on the shocks, not of the springs, to control ride properties. The springs come into play more in terms of handing. You can see this in the comparison of the Flex and CS. The spring rates are pretty close (in comparison with other Tein springs) but the ride properties are different.

Still, since Tein does not have shocs "specs", we can only glean their intentions by looking at the spring rates. When comparing spring rates, it also depends on the car since each car has a different drive properties and weight.

The numbers for the CS for example:

GS: 504/448
IS: 559/448
LS: 336/224
SC: 559/336

Tein tunes the coilovers to some goal for specific cars and depending on what the stock rates are, the ride may be close or drastically different.
