Farewell
To the many great people on this forum, I say goodbye and fare thee well with your wonderful rides. My 2005 with 122k miles was sold and I shall no longer have this wonderful vehicle to enjoy. My consolation is that it looks like it will be going to a good new home, somewhere here in the northeast. It's been a great 18 year affair and I loved every minute of it. Keep those 3UZ FE V8s humming .... I may lurk in this forum now and then when I miss the SC and want to come back to admire what everyone is doing with their SC430s.

Oh, this makes me extremely sad -- my TAP counterpart to my MPP...

You were one of the first SC owners that has given me and others so much sound advice with your knowledge, experience and expertise of the SC430.
Is there a reason why you sold? Were you downsizing your stable?
Regardless, I'm just sad to see you go. But I'm happy you found a good home that will continue taking great care of your TAP SC.
I DO hope you will lurk around when able and continue to offer helpful advice, guidance and any other info.
I want to personally Thank You and tell you how much I've appreciated ALL you've done and for ALL your contributions for the SC430 Community and wish you and yours a hearty Godspeed and all the best going forward

18 years is a long time - never owned any car that long ever. My choices were sink around $10k + to strip the car down to bare metal, repaint so it gets even better than when I bought it in 2008, replace every single rubber seal, upgrade the Nav and audio to true modern standards using one of the SC430mods offerings and then keep it for a further 10 years ( now you know why I checked out stated value insurance right ?). OR ... find a suitable buyer who is likely to take good care of the car. It was a 50/50 thing but the right person came along and he now owns it. I'll give him all the support I can if he decides to join this CL forum but I'll say this and no more about the new owner - he is no stranger to Lexus coupes .... The rest he can tell you guys himself if he chooses to join this forum. That he has a history with a Lexus coupe previously was what helped me to decide he would be a good person to own my TAP into the future. I think she is in good hands.
Oh, that’s awesome and can’t wait to show you after ceramic is done!!
To make a long story short a couple of unfortunate things happened
and we might have to get a couple areas repainted. Both happened by accident and out of our control while the SC was being stored and I’m still sick about it. Bottom line is I’m not sure when I’ll be able to do the ceramic until these issues get sorted out — and of course that takes time and money. We got one quote already and when we get the chance I want to get 2 more quotes from a couple other places. Then we’ll decide when to take care of it. It’s not bad enough to keep us from driving our SC, just enough to hold off on the ceramic.
But @doobs is also supposed to do the ceramic on his SC, so please check in on us when you can…
Yes, that is a long time and I don’t think I’ve ever kept one vehicle for that long. I know I haven’t.
Your mentioning of a strip to bare metal and repaint surprises me as your TAP in all the photos I’ve seen, looked amazing and shined like glass…
Well, again, I’m glad you were able to sell to someone who has a history with Lexus coupes and will treat the SC430 as it so deserves.
Because you’ve owned an SC430 for 18 years means you can STILL offer advice and/or helpful suggestions to those of us that haven’t owned ours as long as you have.
So Please, don’t be a stranger as you’ve earned the right to chime in as often as you like and whenever you feel like it

Mebbe I will be back when I have a replacement for my faithful SC. Looking for another NA V8. We shall see...
And yes I am exchanging texts with the new owner explaining the ceramic process I did on the "new to him" SC so he has the option to keep it looking that way if he wants...
Sorry your MPP needs paintwork @RofH, but if it's just one or two body panels, then you can ceramic other body panels that are not adjacent to the affected areas. Then you will have less work to do when the affected areas are fully resolved. Also good to pick up some experience if you're new to it. Like start with a less likely to be noticed panel like the lower rocker panels or the area around your rear license plate. See how it comes out and decide how you would do it different if you were to do a large area like the hood or the whole convertible top.

OBP,
Thanks for all your contributions.
I'm waiting for decent (consistently warm) weather weather to do my Ceramic Coating.
There is also the replacement LCA's and toe arms waiting for installment, so it will be a busy spring.
Take care, and thanks again.

We also have the Simply Speakers Repair Kit to do along with installing the backup camera and Bluetooth adapter from SC430Mods. It's going to be a busy spring -- Can't wait

Sorry you had to part ways with the SC. When you visit GA I can lend you mine if you miss driving an SC. As I am retired, I am happy with my stable. I have a 2001 Highlander which is my work horse for errands. Lately it is giving me a random no start issue. Which could mean s starter issue since my battery is only 2 years old. Once upon a time it was my daily driver, but now only used once a week if at all. If after a new battery is installed and it continues to have random no starts and I can not debug it, I will sell it. The wife uses it but since it has no AC, she can only drive it during winter. Nothing beats a second SUV on stand by. Getting the AC repaired is out of the question. The cost will be high and not worth it.
I would entertain a used RX350 though. What year did the 350 start? 2005? My RX is a 2004, it was the model change. I can perhaps look at an RX350. Let's put it this way, this is a strategy for higher cost avoidance, if you know what I mean. In fact I should be window shopping for an RX350 now! Let the fun begin.

Thanks Mandyfig - you were my first SC friend and one of the reasons I will miss this community. Good luck with your RX search. I still keep the pics of our two SCs together on your driveway ...
