Any tips on what I should check?
Drove my ‘03 yesterday afternoon with the top down, no issues. Last night, I seem to have developed electrical issues. Key fob caused car to beep, but doors had to be manually unlocked. I started the car just fine, but when I tried to put the top down, nothing happened, no red light, no noise, no action. I then rolled down the drivers window. Works, but had to hold the button. The automatic function to roll it completely down or up isn’t working. Then I tried to roll down the passenger window. Nothing. Likewise, my fuel door and trunk opener stop working. Key fob doesn’t open trunk, either. I also noticed a new yellow dummy light turned on (formerly I had no warning lights/ecm codes). It looks like a fog lamp? that has arrows coming out or the light rays going both up and down. My fog lights can turn on and off, but no indicator lights on the dash. Power door locks are inop now, too. Everything else is operating normally, as far as I can tell. Any ideas?
There actually is a module (Computer) that controls all the things you mentioned. Since your top has to synch with your windows, they put in a separate computer. Unfortunately I don't remember what it is called?
I think it is called the sliding roof control module, but I recommend you do more of a search to find out if that is the correct module.
Before replacing it, I would check to make sure all the fuses that power it are working.
Probably the 1st thing I would do is disconnect your battery for 10 minutes. Then reconnect it and see if the things work. If they do, then you know your module had a glitch and the fuses are fine. If it doesn't I would look at the fuses.
I have a $40 cheaters solution - I have a battery tender for each of my cars. Whichever car is on break and not being driven gets hooked up to its battery tender overnight. While the SC has never given me electrical gremlins one of my other cars used to constantly give me parking sensor failure and radar sensor failure warnings. Until it was put on a diet of rest time on battery tender. No more electrical gremlins after that. And that car has a 10 year old AGM battery by the way. The other SC related battery issue I found once was loose connectors at the battery terminals. Got intermittent random failures that would come and go until I had the terminals tightened. OP good luck hope you resolve the issue soon. Pls let us know what you find.
Someone else suggested it may be my alternator. I went to Autozone, and they confirmed my alternator was bad. Hopefully, once I replace that, everything will go back to normal.
Could be...usually with a bad alternator you car will crap out and stop running...maybe its on the verge...but some of your problems does sound like the alternator,,,use Denso...
