Default Braking issue

I was driving my '03 SC430 and suddenly the VSA on/off and ABS light went on, the brake light was on and there was an alert sounding. Turned the car on/off to hopefully reset everything. That didn't work but then the brakes felt like I had lost half the system, they went almost to the floor and stopping took much longer. 10 minutes later while driving the lights and alert stopped and the brakes were back to normal. Any ideas of what could have caused it? I want to get it taken care of immediately! Thanks

Check your brake fluid the brake lines.
However, it seems like you might be experiencing the brake failure. You can do a search for it on the forum and read more on the topic.

THIS IS VERY SERIOUS. Whenever you hear the brake alarm going off, you know it is a major problem. It sounds like your master cylinder/brake booster is going out. This has caused many near accidents in other user's cars. I would not drive the car until you get it fixed.

So I talked to my mechanic at LXT automotive and he said is was the entire master booster assembly that needs to be replaced. New ones run $3K but we are hoping to find a used one. Unlike older cars everything on these is together in one part!

Lexus sells a seal kit for the master cylinder.
I had a leaky master cylinder on my 2002 and replaced it with a used one. Replaced the entire assembly, then i found the rebuild kit. The cost was about the same. Found the used part at a junk yard from a 2005. Worked fine after that. It was about $100, but that was a few years ago.

here is the rebuild kit part…let us know how it goes.

My car has close to 100K. Mechanic got a booster assembly used w/warranty for $750. Between bleeding the brakes, computer reset and parts it's around $1,800. My wife's 300NX 60k service at the dealer was $1,050 so I guess it not soo bad!

Yea it looks like some SC430 that has over 100K+ in mileage is typically when the ABS pump goes bad. I have owned 4 SC430s and this is one of the weak areas with these cars. I haven’t heard of anyone having this issue under 100K though.

glad you are ok and back in action though
