Default Nav Door Swap

Hello all...my 2002 sc430 has got the frozen nav door syndrome....pulled it and I'm sure the motor has lost its ability to move it...I found a reasonably priced replacement but the door is a different color than mine...has anyone swapped out the door...it appears that it unclips and moves freely; is there anything that I am missing as far as total removal and replacement......do side panels have to be removed, etc....any help would be appreciated before I buy the replacement
Thanks.....
PS: I thought of replacing the motors but Bgw70 said he would never do it again

It should be pretty easy to swap the doors when you have both assemblies out and on a table. If I remember correctly, you'll have to remove one of the metal side plates that holes the screen/motor assembly together to get the door out of your old one. Then do the reverse for your new assembly. I think the door just slides along the tracks in the metal for the slides and at the top of the door there is a plastic clip where the motor attaches. It'll make sense when you have the unit pulled from the car. Remove the AC panel first (be careful not to break the plastics!), then there are the two vent cover/panels that just pop out. Then you should see 4, 10mm screws holding the screen assembly metal frame in. Removed the screws then pull the unit out. Then there should be 2 cables in the back. Disconnect those are you are free!

Having disassembled one of these, I'm going to advise caution.

There are a lot of pieces with a lot of screws.

Clear off a table and put down a towel or something. As you remove something line it up on the towel in the order that it came off.

Take pictures often and frequently as you go along.

Did I mention there are a lot of bits and pieces?

Pay attention of the orientation of things as you go along, particularly the door retract mechanism. DAMHIKT.....

Good luck!
