Power window issues
if so, be very careful you don’t break the plastic assembly when you pry it up…ask me how i know 😂
I think there are some good instructions on how to remove it in the triangle weather-stripping thread (about the wind noise solution). You have to know where to pry and where NOT to pry and where to stick a screwdriver in to push the leather back.
Hey guys, I have been having problems rolling my windows up on my Lexus for about 6 months. In the first 5 months the problem would come and go. For example, I would be able to roll the windows down (both passenger and drivers side). I would turn off the car and when I would use turn the car on again the windows would not move at all. I would drive for a while and then they start to work again. Sometimes the issue would be on one specific window but for the first 5 months it would always eventually resolve and the window somehow always worked before I arrived home or had to park. Unfortunately, the problem started getting worse and the windows would stop working more frequently. After moving back to Miami after graduating college i I ran out of luck and last month my mom was driving my car and rolled the window down. The window never worked again. My mom rolled the driver side window down half way and when she parked and tried to roll the window up, it didn't work. I told my mom not to worry because that always happens and that the next time the car was turned on it would work, or it would just randomly work again. That's how it had been for the past few months at least. But it has been a month and it just does not move at all. I am wondering if its a blown fuse, but I do not even know how to change it or where to look for the specific fuse that I have to replace.
For clarification:
Both windows do not move.
I do not hear any sign or noise of the motor.
None of the switches work, so I cannot even roll the passenger window down through the armrest switch on either the passenger or driver door handle.
I checked to see if the window lock on the door handle was pressed and that is not the issue
My top has not worked for YEARS so I cannot test if they would work with the "open top" button
Something to keep in mind is that 2 years ago I tried to repair the drop top with my dad ourselves and we ended up switching the wrong motor so the issue was not resolved. Instead, the car got stuck in a perpetual state of thinking the top was in the process of opening so for the past 2 years, all I ever hear when driving is that annoying beep (The one that you hear when you try to drive while the top is supposedly in the process of opening). Yeah, I hear that constantly and it has made my 5 hour drives to Gainesville Florida very unbearable. Anyways, this error caused my Power Window function to stop working (when you hold the window switch up twice and it automatically goes up, thats what I mean... it stopped working after I replaced the wrong drop top motor), and the "trunk open" button located next to the fuel cap button stopped working as well. I suppose that since the car thinks that the car is constantly in the process of opening its roof, it doesn't allow me to use those functions.
I am not sure how that last paragraph of information plays into my very serious issue of not being able to roll the windows up or down, but it might be useful. I apologize if this is not the right place to post this question but I would really appreciate any insight. It has bee raining a lot and I can't even drive my car. I am also scared of theft because I do not have my own private garage. Thanks!
