Default 1995 SC 400 Remote Master Key

My remote master key for my 1995 SC 400 quit working about a week ago. I replaced the battery and still doesn't work. Do these keys have to be reprogrammed if the battery has been removed/replaced? I went to a Lexus Dealer and also tried a new battery, but no go. The parts department guy told me that my key was probably bad and would cost me $335.00 for a new key. OUCH!!!!

Help,

Remoteless

I doubt you need to reprogram it. Ive got a 1995 and on mine the plastic case is broken and opens up sometimes and the battery falls out. Every time this happens I just put it back together and it works as good as it did b4.

I have a 93..I don't know if it makes a difference or not...but,it's the key with the button on the side...it had the panasonic battery but,i don't think it would last 16 years so it had to have replaced at the dealer at one point...any other problems it might be?

It's time to spend the $50 bucks and get a keyless entry/trunk popper/ remote start system.

You'd be glad you did.

Sounds like we have the same key. Black plastic with an L. Button on side. Tiny phillips head screw.

go through this thread to see if you can still get it working
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ess-entry.html

if the key works but without much range it could be the antenna and just needs to be resoldered as in here:

I know when you get you keys from the dealer, like I did, $435 for both, you have to get the chip replaced. The dealer gave me the piece. Its located in the passenger side rear compartment piece where the passenger side seat belt goes. It wasnt hard to replace. Maybe this will help out, if you end up having to buy keys from the STEALERSHIP!
