second drift event was super fun, there were only like 8 cars drifting so i got like over 20 runs in and finally finished off the tires. Car is holding up great with no issues yet. we had a radiator hose come off but we slipped it back on and filled the car back up with water and it was good the rest of the day. the cheap hose that came with the overflow tank burst twice so i need to get a better hose for the overflow and we'll be set for the next event. on the 28th hostile takeover is happening at GLD where they'll have an actual "track" instead of just the skid pad so that's gonna be awesome.
Looks like you guys are having a riot. That's what it's all about!
hell yea we are, this car is perfect for drifting! it's so sad that we're the only SC400 or SC at all drifting. last event i did see a straight piped LS400 though so at least there's some 1uz love.
still doing more body work, i uncovered some beautiful bondo cake underneath the peeling paint of the passenger side quarter panel. hammered it all out and started redoing the bondo much much much thinner, how it should be done.
i got the panel pretty close to a good position just with the hammer and crow bar so the bondo part was really easy and just covering up the small dents left over.
first pass of bondo, still pretty wavy, i had to primer it though because it snowed the next day and bondo doesn't like water. this weekend i'm hoping to finish it and get a coat of paint on the rear of the car.
Body work complete! i'll be fixing the bumpers and fenders over the winter but won't be filming it because you've already seen my process for doing body work so it doesn't really matter. but the major damage is fixed now!
back with some more work on the pig, time to finish off this interior and make it a little more streetable. no more smelling fumes, smoke and debris. gonna close it off well starting with the shifter hole.
closed up the large major holes in the firewall, removed some left over AC lines, and closed up the speaker holes. hopefully these changes keep the cabin from stinking really bad.
whoa it's been a while since i did some work on the car. it's time for the big one, which isn't that big now that i've done it. replacing the water pump and timing belt!
