this was a fun video, exhaust is almost finished, just the last 2 resonators left. this weekend we'll be relocating the fuel filter to the trunk, tucking the rest of the brake and fuel lines, finishing the ehxaust and hopefully getting it running once again.
this video is a little different from the rest, it's about 3D printing. i made a fuel filter relocation bracket hope you guys find it interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iew6_5i08rY
thats awesome dude. The things I would give for the time and space to play with a 3D printer..
i finished the exhaust and i think i've figured out why the car won't start, it's most likely a battery that won't hold charge. i've been charging the battery 24/7 basically and the car only seems to start when the battery is somewhere above 12.6V due to the charger pouring amps into it. today i'm gonna try to jump it with my daily and see what happens. if it starts right away then yea it's most likely the battery. we're in the maintenance phase now, we have a driver side seat mounted (future video), we have the fuel filter mounted in the trunk, and the dash lights up now (but needles don't move for some reason). so i already poured seafoam in it, gonna spray it in the intake once it's running smoothly, change the oil, coolant, power steering, and valve cover gaskets and PCV. then we're onto the swap! first drift event is April 20th so that's what we're aiming for, highly doubt we'll make but i'll try to be optimistic lol.
Absolutely sick stuff you guys are doing! I can’t wait to see this thing sliding corners!
thanks man i can't wait either! it's been a long 3 months working on this thing lol but it's finally coming together. as i suspected it was just the battery causing the car not to start, starts right up with a jump. now i gotta figure out the Code 13, 21, 27, and 29. all O2 sensor stuff and the RPM signal which is really weird because i fixed all the wires on the cam and crank sensors and the code went away and now it's back. so i'm gonna go over the wires all over again and make sure everything is perfect.
here's the first part of my RGB Cluster build, hope you guys find this useful. i'll try to get part 2, the needles out by the end of this week as well so you guys can tear into it yourself next week and follow along.
got some new johnnys on the car! driver side seat is mounted, got a new steering wheel, and it's running smooth now. Still getting codes 13, 21, 27, and 29. i know the O2 sensors are shot and those are arriving today but Code 13 i can't figure out. cam sensors resistance measures fine both at 1074 when cold, i fixed all the chewed up wiring and tucked it away so it doesn't get destroyed again but it still doesn't work. RPMs on the dash don't work either but that might be a bad cluster, i need to get the TOYOBDI diagnostics tool to see if the ECU is actually reading RPMs or not.
Another little update. So we got the hood mounted and sun roof sealed so i got the car outside, on its own power! didn't even know if the original trans worked but it does! so i did a burn out of course.
So for some reason code 21 is gone, and i changed the downstream sensors so 27 and 29 are gone too. only code 13 left. Now as for the car starting, i've narrowed it down to the circuit opening relay. the car will start if i smack that relay, otherwise it just cranks endlessly. i think what i'll do is bypass it with a switch because i'm kinda done dealing with this issue, it's gone too far in my opinion. I've started removing fuses, relays, and wiring that serves no function for us. There's still a small exhaust leak between the header and the exhaust so i'm gonna goober some more copper gasket maker on there.
If anyone has any clue on code 13 let me know because i think it's causing the car to stumble on a first start, i have to blip the gas for it to idle normally. it has a new crank sensor and wiring completely replace on that sensor. The cam sensors both had chewed up wires and i replaced those too, i'm gonna follow the wiring through the plastic shielding and see if something maybe melted or got damaged there somehow otherwise i'm completely out of ideas. Timing marks line up too so that's not the issue. New episode finishing the cluster will be uploaded today as well.
