CEL Code 78
As mentioned above the car was not running when I purchased it, so I replaced the head and all valve train including cams, head gasket, water pump, timing belt, thermostat, radiator, distributor, ignitor, plugs, wires, etc, etc, along with a new fuel pump, and fuel filter. After all was complete, I turned the key and the car fired up pretty quickly and idled for a few minutes, sputtered and shut off. I checked the codes and one was for the IACV valve and the other was code 78 (Fuel pump control circuit fault). I replaced the IACV and did the 12v mod, fired the car again, it idled well, I gave it some gas and then it shut off again after I let off of the gas, still getting code 78.
Any Ideas? I did strip one of the screws when reinstalling the top piece that goes to the fuel float, could that cause it?? Im stumped
I have a 92 factory 5-speed SC300 and the car dies throwing code 78
