I went to the drag strip with some members of my club and I pulled some horrible numbers. Part of the problem is my reaction time which I am working on (1st time racing) but the fastest time I pulled was 16.3. Ugghh. I know 2 problems right away.
1 Ran on my Racing Hart 19's. I didn't have access to my stock wheels. Got them now though.
2 It's Vegas and even at night it's over 100 degrees out.
ECT was on power. O/D was off. Launched at 1500 rpm. 2000 rpm seemed to bog a little.
I'm running an Injen intake, WR ECU and custom mandrel bent exhaust. I know some stock SC400's are running low 15s. With my mods I should be in the high 14 range.
Were those 2 things enough to take 1.5 seconds off my 1/4 mile time? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I know. I was in the .9 range. pretty bad but in my defense there is really no warning. Lined up, lights go yellow then green. I'm trying to launch on yellow now. Times should go down this week.
Maybe you already know this .. but your reaction time only counts towards winning the "race" ... not towards your 1/4 mile time. You can sit at the line for 10 minutes and still run a 16.3 in the 1/4 mile.
Yeah. I was aware. Lost to a guy in my club who had a slower 1/4 mile time but a faster RT.
There are a couple of guys running Grand Nationals out there who sit on the line until the other car is about a third of the way down then go. They finish at about the same time but the GN's are running 11's and the other car like 16's.
It's kind of funny watching an Integra trying to put as much space between him and the GN before it launches. Like watching an injured gazelle try to out run a cheetah on National Geographic.
