Default Speedometer & Odometer not working

I know there are many threads with the same problem, but none of them solved my problem.
First of all, I have a 97 SC400 and my speedometer is not moving and Odometer is blank not counting any miles. First I thought it was the VSS but the cluster was counting MPGs and average speed, weired right 😅. Also, the cruise control in not working. I gave it a try and replaced the VSS from a used 1st gen LS400 tranny (we don't have any SC400 parts where I live it's very very rare here in Oman) and it was worse, it didn't work and it didn't count the MPGs and average speed. Is the cluster needs to be changed? Or I need a VSS from an Sc400? Or it's just a wiring problem.

I'd investigate the price of SC400 vss, and SC400 cluster, start with cheapest and start swapping. Pull a diagram and check continuity of wires.

Yeah I guess you're right I must check the wires first. Also, I did a computer OBD check and I've got code P0500: VSS malfunction so I guess I'm buying a new VSS anyway.

Thanks a lot I will give it a try.. But ABS light came on I think it's related to the speed sensor.

Man you must be the only guy in the entire middle east with an SC, certainly didn't see any during my visits. Come to think of it, really not that many Lexus's at all...

Do you have these symptoms?

This video explains the 3 simultaneous symptoms others have had and shows the process of how it’s fixed. Hope this helps everyone who may run into this issue.
3 issues are:

1. 1. speedometer not moving

2. 2. odometer digital display is blank

3. 3. shifting is erratic while trying to accelerate
