I have a 1992 sc400. car use to run great untill I wash the engine. I work at Lexus so I seen the detailers wash the engine all the time using degreaser and pressure water. So that's what I did. After I wash my car the engine sounded like it wanted to die. So I left it running so it can dry out. Engine went back to normal rpm after 10 minutes. The next morning when I got up engine rpm keeps going up and down. from 1100rpm to almost 2000rpm. I'm thinking it's the etc sensor. Has this happen to any one else. Can someone help me.

So you got soap and water everywhere? Have you tried a wet to dry shop vac to get the water out of the intake manifold valley? Your alternator is also prolly soaked causing electrical...
Yeah, you're gonna have to go through everything. My first guess is you got water in one (or more) spark plug chambers or in a spark plug wire that had a fray in it. I'd check the injector coils too, especially the one down low on the right if you're looking at the engine bay.
To everybody, don't judge. Guy says he isn't a tech and the 1UZ is a tough bird. I've drenched her plenty of times myself..until the LAST time. She didn't like it.
To the OP, this is a great time to start turning your own wrenches. Those motors are still simple enough for you to find your way around.
OP, the one and only time I washed my engine water got down in the spark plug chamber and fouled the plug. No matter how long I ran the engine or waited it wouldn't dry out. Had to pull every plug and blow out the chamber with compressed air. I would use the air compressor at work and go over the entire engine bay.
As for the *** hole techs at your shop karma' s a *****.
