Ok, so my 92 SC is in the shop for accident repairs and one hinge abolutely needs replacing. Do you guys think I should replace the other one while I'm at it?
Well my car's over 10 years old (92) and it has 110k miles. The previous and first owner for 90k of the miles used the car for city driving (lots of opening and closing of the door.) and theres no sign of sagging yet. The hinge will probably last the life of your car unless you get into another accident.
Depends on how much does it cost to replace the hinge, and how much are you willing to spend now. If you have the money do it. Usually when one goes the other follow soon
Both of my SC400s door hinges are bad. We're talking about replacing 4 hinges here
You probaly don't have to, but since it's already at the shop, it could save you a trip and extra down time later if you do it now. If money is not a problem, go ahead and do it. If nothing else, it will save you time and you won't need to be concerned about it for at least the next 10 yrs.
I have two hinges for sale one is of a 97 sc and the other one is off a 95 the 97 one is silver and the 95 one is white, both for 400 plus shipping each is 250 they are in perfect condition.
Originally posted by onelasttry i would think the door hinge may be worn, but the passenger side may be barely used even after 10 years.
I'm gonna 2nd onelasttry on this one. If you drive by yourself most of the time (like I do), the drivers door is going to get most of the wear 'n tear and the passengers should be next to new.
