Among some other upgrades - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...ged-sc400.html - I am converting to coil over plug.
Parts being used.
AEM - 30-2820 - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/avm-30-2820
Accel super coils 140033e - http://shop.accel-ignition.com/ignit...-ext-boot.html
Coil connectors found on Ebay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/151278860868
My Adaptronic e420c ECU
My ECU only has 4 ignition outputs so I will be doing a waste spark setup. I will be wiring the way shown on the attached diagram. I actually emailed AEM and asked if this setup would be ok and I got their approval.
The AEM ignition box appears to be an awesome unit. Very flexible. I'm very excited. I do not have it yet, scheduled delivery is Wednesday.
The coils are ford coils. From the top of the spark plug tube to the tip of the spark plug is 3 and 3/4 inches. The boots on the coils are 4.5 inches and the contact in the boot is recessed about 1/2 inch. This = snug fit on the plugs. I had to modify the boots slightly to make them fit in the holes. Had to cut down the very top sealing ring as it was too big. The boots seal to the tube fine with the other two rings. They make a pop noise pulling them out, LOL.
Parts that can be removed:
OEM coil packs
OEM ignitors
Caps
Rotors
Wires
The distributors need to stay in place as they hold the cam sensors. I am going to modify them a bit, will take pictures of it.

Love seeing what you've done with the car! I was reading up on ITBs yesterday, just to see if anyone had done it on the 1UZ. Independent throttle bodies would compliment your plug conversion nicely.

Fantastic work. It's nice to see some real, innovative mods on the 1UZ that aren't -totally- FI related.
Thanks guys.
Just so you know though the car is supercharged and has been for 7 years now. Check out the link up top, planning to put a bigger blower on it. Just put in cams, valve springs and retainers. Some other plans.

Yup, I looked...edited in the "totally", lol. 22psi seems like a dangerous number on these to me....but then again you've done the necessary strengthening.Originally Posted by KC95SC400

Ya, not planning on 22psi, not until I can put rods in it anyway. The rods are my weak point. I have factory rods although they are the thicker version.Originally Posted by ArkLaTexSC

22 psi would be awesome though.

Just saw this thread, 👍 glad so see the hardcore guys are still doing work with the 1uz. Doing a cop conversion on my single turbo 1uz. Along with aem, injectors and supporting mods.
