Just noticed yesterday while driving for a while, my center console started to really heat up. Partly it was from the head unit but then there was heat coming directly from the shifter, like the bottom of it and then it spread into the surrounding plastic pieces. My auto tranny runs like a dream I haven't had any problems at all with it, it has plenty of fluid in it too. Ill check the cats maybe those are transferring heat to everything else. Any other ideas or is this just normal in this car?

more or less normal unless it becomes extreme. alot of people remove everything down to the tunnel and install some heat shielding pad or dynamat on top of the tunnel and re install everything to cut down on the heat.

Yea I think I need new cats, there's always been a weird smell coming from the exhaust. Whats the best replacement for the cats? Just straight pipes? I have an axleback exhaust already and would love the car to be a little louder, or can I just hollow out the cats? Meow so many cats

its pretty normal for our cars.
just add some sort of insulation material in the tunnel and they should help it out
