Default hot center console

Hey Guys,

i've noticed recently that after I drive my SC for a little while, the center console where my shifter is gets really hot.

Does anyone know why?

The exhaust runs right there with the 3rd cat right there as well. Mine gets very hot too. I'm planning on gutting that 3rd cat to see if it helps. I think it may be getting a bit plugged up and that would create an excessive amount of heat.

It's the exhaust and transmission like MrBrock and Lexus95 said. Mine doesn't get tthat hot, but if I step out of my car, I can feel tons of heat coming from the exhaust. I recently got bigger piping so maybe that's it.

All that heat sure makes the pocket in a single DIN car stereo setup really hot.

When I do my 5 speed swap I'll be laying down some insulation to help keep the temps down a little...
