Quick question about the power steering pump
Ok, i think its about that time to replace the power steering pump. After about 10min of driving the steering gets pretty rough and makes a whining sound when i turn. My question is what parts do i need to corect the problem, do i just need the pump? I went to partsdirect.com and they sell a pump. I was just wondering if this was all i need. Thanks
is the outside of the pump wet and grimy? The major problem with the pump is leaks - if it has been leaking & is low on fluid, it can ingest air and will act wierd, groans, rough spots, blah blah. Check your fluid level, top it up if it's low, run the wheel stop-to-stop a few times, check level again, it may improve how it feels, but if it's leaking you gotta fix it or bye bye alternator when it gets soaked with atf - - you can get an oem kit to rebuild the pump, but the rebuild can fail (I know) so make sure the rebuilder knows his *** from a hot rock - - or bite the bullet & buy a new one, $455 oem list from the dealer...
i had the same problem a while back and it made werid noises every tym i completly turn in 1 direction. I found out that it leaked a lot every tym i turned fully. After i replaced it, it stop, but you should try to buy the stop leak power steering formula 1st to make sure.
What is the stop leak power steering formula??? I have never heard of it. What does it do and where can i pick some up. Thanks. I have to wait untill my tax return gets here before i can fix anything so i am will to try what ever it takes untill then.
