Default power steering pump question

so got in my car today and noticed that my power steering pump was rattling. i can put my hand on it and feel it rattling. no loss of power steering, no fluid loss, no air in the resevoir either. is this the pump going bad, or possibly a bad bearing on the pump? all the pulleys seem tight with no play. also, anyone have a write up on how to replace the pump if this is the problem? ive looked and havent found any kind of install. its an '01 w/ 137k miles so im sure it needs replacing anyway...just want to make sure before i drop the money on it.

Probably going bad. I would go ahead and replace it. I wouldnt imagine it being hard enough to have a write up seems pretty straight forward or just take it to Toyota

There is a write-up on how to replace the power steering pump on an IS on this site: http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/IS_98-05/index.html.

Every IS owner that I've talked to seems to think that the job isn't too mechanically intensive so I'd attempt to undertake the job myself if it means saving a buck or two. (hundred ) Good luck with your repairs bro!

No problem dubstar!

Where did you get that price quote for a power steering pump by the way? That's extremely cheap! I believe that the M.S.R.P. on just the power steering pump assembly alone for '01 is300s is around $450!
