Default Securing the SC

Due to all of the recent break in's and stolen SCs.
I'm wondering what type of security is being used for members on the CL.

So everyone fill in the blanks.

Alarm:___________________________
Effectiveness of Alarm:___________________
Locks: (Club, Autolock and etc)___________________________
Locks always on Car?:_______________________
Garaged or Park on Street:__________________
Wheel Locks?:______________________

Hire a guard to sit in your car 24-7.

None of that other stuff works.

One HoT SC400,

Alarm: DEI w/autostart
Effectiveness of Alarm: car is still there
Locks: (Club, Autolock and etc) Locks are only as good as if you use the pain in the rear things.
Locks always on Car?: I have no locks, wheel locks, or otherwise
Garaged or Park on Street: Driveway
Wheel Locks?: Nope

Generally, if you have an alarm, most thieves will move on. If you have those $5k HRE wheels that the thief wants, then you are dead. They will ground out your battery in 5 seconds flat and kill your alarm to get your wheels.

Effectiveness, I think the best method is a two stage setup. Several autodealers killed the Loctronics joke key fob for the newest gimmick. The newer one is quite nice in comparison. It is a key fob that transmits a code to a starter relay that looks like a standard bosch relay. When you are close to the car, it disarms and allows for the relay to provide the starting current. When the fob is absent, the car wont start unless you replace the relay (not something an average thief in a hurry is going to do). This is combination with a siren going off will probably handle the job.

Lastly, several of my friends are into the SUV w/airbags and 22" wheels thing. Now THAT is an effective security system. When the arm the alarm, their Escalades and Navigators drop to the ground where the frame is only 1" from the pavment. The wheels won't move because they are tucked 1foot under the fenders. Can't steal a car that can't move, can't jack the car up with only 1" of ground clearance.

Alarm: 2 Way FM Pager Alarm

Effectiveness of Alarm: Pages up to 1 city block. Alarmed paged me when the car was hit in the parking lot one time. Made the person who hit me pay me for the damage. As for auto-theft prevention, the car is still there.

Locks: (Club, Autolock and etc)Club on steering and Autolock on brake

Locks always on Car?: Sometimes. Mostly the Club for show.

Garaged or Park on Street: In my driveway mostly

Wheel Locks?: Two wheel locks on each wheel. Both of them I brought from Strauss.

Newbie here. What is a Multilock and do you have a link to a website where I can read about it?

Thanks!

hiyabrad,

I think they are referring to a MUL-T-Lock

They are used on cars to lock the shifter in place. Therefore they cannot steal the car. The keys are not duplicable. The unit is not easy to hacksaw. Very few methods to disable.

shoyu,

Depending on the year, most SC's are pretty easy to install alarms in. The later models has the alarms that were difficult to get around.

I say your car salesman cousin is mistaken. Maybe take it to an alarm place and ask them
