Default Key Entry?

Well I was trying to see if anyone here on cl has had this problem. I was on my way to go to a friends house when all of a sudden my key gets stuck in the entry to open the driver side door. I budge and budge. The attempts seem futile when all of a sudden it comes out. Now the key won't even go in. So I did my research on cl and i guess no one seems to have this problem. I was just wondering if it is common for this to happen. Maybe there is someone who has had this problem I am not aware of. If not I guess my only option is to replace it with a different one perhaps?

Looks like the lock mechanism is seized up. Spray a little WD40 in the key hole and see if that helps.

Just leave it unlocked like me, no one is going to steal your 20 year old Toyota or the crappy Nakamichi stock head unit lol. I figured it I leave it unlocked, they won't break a window to get in haha.

See, that's how I lived for 3 years that's why I recently bought the single button key from Lexus. And I don't like aftermarket alarms, too loud and calls more attention IMO.

My problem was different though, whenever I use the driver side it would set off the alarm. According to an old thread by OLT it's because of an old potentiometer that breaks loose and doesn't move with the mechanism when you turn it. Really annoying when I'm alone, I have to pretend that I'm putting something in the passenger seat or getting something from the glove compartment so people don't get weirded by me. LOL

You could hook up the aftermarket alarm into the stock horn. It'll alert the exact same way as a stock alarm would.

I prefer the factory key FOB looks though.

It's actually in the list of "things to do" in my excel for my SC. I'm still waiting for the company to come up with a better looking, if not OEM looking key FOB. It uses a card key FOB.

edit: didn't realize you were the guy who made the thread about it. Thanks!

Haha yeah, I have installed in my car. I like the key FOB, it's slim. Fits nicely in my pockets
