Default Trans. oil level?

Had my Trans. oil changed. (Quick-lub-place). They over filled it by 3" on the stick... 1" above the hot mark... when cold, not running. Will this hurt anything.. or, can I let that baby rollllll?

Take the car back and have the place drain out the excess fluid. It's not good on your vehicle. Oh, by the way- after you have them drain out the excess fluid, you may want to consider never returning to those cheap quick lube places. They often times employ teenagers that have been driving for a few weeks, and working on cars for even less time. Not exactly the type of person I want working on my Lexus. Any time the manager of a store is 20 years old, you gotta wonder...

Try taking your vehicle to the Toyota dealer. The one close to me has all the parts I've ever needed for my SC400 and my ES300. It only costs $26 for a full oil change (with Valvoline). The transmission runs about $40. I take it there when I'm feeling like a lazy a$$. The rest of the time, I just change the fluids myself.

Man your scaring me a little - I’ve never seen a quick lube joint that uses/carries the Type-IV fluid that our cars need. Please don’t use another fluid other than Toyota Type-IV. Either do it yourself or take it to a Toyota/Lexus Dealer. As far as the over fill goes, a transmission repair guy is a friend of mine and he told me that a LITTLE is Ok and actually good/better than low in our cars but yours sounds like too much.
Get it done right!

Thanks for the input.
Had the oil, Trans., and diff. fluids changed at the dealership today.
Runs 'buttery smooth'!
$108 for all.

i did my tranny oil change today
and i think i took out about 2 quarts.. and put in about 2 quarts of type-VI
I was checking the level, and it was between cold and hot.. but more closer to hot..
a friend said, its fine..
im just wondering if its too low?
i checked the level when the car was running, and in neutral.
the manual said when the car is hot, the oil should be in the middle of hot.
i think i should put in 1/4 more of oil tomorrow..

I hope i dont have too little of an oil level, or too much.

*sigh* The SC300 doesn't use T-IV

The SC400 needs T-IV ATF -- the SC300 has a different tranny, hence different fluid -- it's a regular dextron.. check in your manual -- mine is with my car... in a junkyard.

John, let me correct you....92-97 SC3's use Dexron-Mercon III, '98-00 SC's use T-IV just like the SC4's.
NRG, make sure you drive the car around and run it through all the gears first before checking the fluid.

i checked my oil today, and it was right on the HOT side of Low..
which means perfect..

i was just too worried about having too little or too much
i put in about 1 quart and 3/4, because i didnt flush it out fully. im sure the other 1/4 is still somewhere in the tranny. but ill do a full flush later..
