yeah, that one Lux life wrap offer me for only $1,600.. It seem like good deal. so i still thinking what i should pick for color on my car. Satin pearl white gloss or blacck shine wrap or hmmm?
A wrap job done like that supra will run you upwards of 3k from a shop that can do a seamless job like that. There are hundreds of colors you can get as well and you will have the gloss finish that looks like an enamel paint job. The cons are that the car can not be patched like a true paint job. Meaning When you get rock chips or scratches that entire area of the color would have to be replaced. I.e. a key scratch on the door means the entire door needs to be re wrapped.
Satin White Pearl! I have a black car, its beautiful when its clean. Extremely hard to keep it clean though I would wrap mine Satin White Pearl if I was to wrap it
You will have a seam on the C pillar along with the hood and roof. I wrapped my hood with the largest 63" vinyl available by 3M controltac and it wasn't large enough to cover the whole thing. I ended up putting a seam near the A pillars on both sides. It didn't look so hot. I posted a picture on instagram and everyone blasted me in about 7 minutes so I ripped it off. It kind of sucked since it took me an hour to install plus the $70 I paid for that piece. At this point everyone will point and laugh at you.
Now, the total cost of vinyl is roughly $250 for a 60" x 10 yard roll of vinyl. You will need two rolls at this size. Add a little shipping and you're looking at $600 your cost without install. Grab a friend and take your time. If you don't, everyone will point and laugh at you.
Vinyl wraps are difficult to keep clean, especially the matte white color. If you scratch vinyl, you can't simply add wax or polish. Once it scratches, you will have to replace an entire section. After a year, the vinyl will start to lift away from areas like the wheel wells and significant curved sections. After three years, the vinyl will start to peel away completely. At this point everyone will point and laugh at you.
With matte colors, you can't use a lot of heat to stretch the material. If you do, the matte color will become glossy and will never go back to matte. The difficult thing is finding a happy medium to pull the vinyl around curves without stretching the media to the point of changing color tones. At this point it will look like a bad rattle can job and everyone will point and laugh at you.
But, most enthusiasts are changing their vehicle design every year or two so maybe this is a good temporary fix. Just do a good job so everyone won't point and laugh at you.
