Default Thoughts on intercooler height

Trying to decide on the Treadstone TR1235 ( Core Size, 12.5" X 22" X 3.5")
or
Core Size, 10.5" X 22" X 3.5" (TR1035)

Seems like the top of the intercooler will be blocked by the bumper beam (no airflow), which I do not want to remove. Should I just go for the 10.5" high?

My goal is 550rwhp.

Thanks

Just mount the intercooler behind the bumper support. There is plenty of room behind there.

There is actually a fair amount of air flow up higher because of our massive mechanical propeller of death. I say go with the taller one and mount it like Luxor said. Heat soaking is usually a bigger problem when not moving so bigger is better in my book until you get up to speeds where the air pressure from the bumper exceeds the flow of the fan.

Thanks you two. I'll go for the taller intercooler.

+1 on the taller one. Here's my 24" x 12" x 4" core mounted for reference sake if it helps you at all.

Will a 5 inch thick core fit behind the bumper beam? Thanks

It might, but holy jeebus do you really need a 5" core? I made 630hp on my last car with a 3" core...

no, but I ordered the 3.5" core... was informed it was back ordered for 6 weeks so they upgraded me to the 4.5" core at no extra charge so I accepted.
