Default Oil Pressure Light on Startup

Just wondering if it's normal for the oil pressure light to come on for a second upon start-up. Always thought it was normal, but at the same time I'm a little worried that something may be going on, on really cold starts I get a slightly rough sound upon startup. TheAzn had a similar problem in a thread a while back and was told that he had slightly low oil pressure upon startup and it was nothing to worry about.

But I can't help but worry about it. Any common causes for low oil pressure upon startup with the 2jz, anything I could do to fix this? Anyone else had similar problems with their oil pressure?

run 5w30 in the winter and make sure your level is full.

My thread above yours about losing two quarts of oil in day is kinda the same thing, the light alerted me and when I checked I was low a quart and half. I'd double check everything especially during winter.

My oil level is fine, It's been 80-90 or so degrees here for the past 2 and a half weeks here in Texas.
My oil pressure light has flashed on at start since I've owned the car, I always thought it was normal with this car as it's never had any problems. My oil level light has never come on, so I don't think it's the same problem as I'm not losing oil.

Yea, the shop I took it to told me it's nothing to worry about. The causes could be dirty oil jackets/ plumbing, oil pump. I asked if I should replace the oil pump but they said no.

I've thought about trying Seafoam or other cleaners but I'm afraid it'll bring out a leak or something.

at 267k plus miles it's probably a good idea to start replacing things like the oil pump if you're trying to avoid a complete rebuild...

my 1J does the same thing, oil light seems to linger for a little longer than usual on start up (working on cars all day, they usually go off right when it starts up). Only two things i can think of are a worn oil pump or worn bearings causing reduced oil pressure. it does bother me a bit, but like you it doesn't come on while driving and im not leaking any so im not terribly concerned

It's maybe a couple tenths of a second longer than the other dummy lights.
Hoping it's not worn bearings at 148k miles

Same here, does not stay on. Only stay on a hair of a second longer when all other lights go off, occasionally it may go out before another light.

Any new viewpoints on this issue?
Nothing bad has happened to my car, however the oil pressure light stays on for a full second longer than the other lights now. Don't know if impending doom is approaching or if everything is still fine.

What ended up happening? Been having the same issue on mine for some time now. Knowing the end result of yours would be very helpful. Thanks
