Diagnostic code 13
). I had a SC3 several years ago, followed by a 92 Supra turbo, so I know a few things about the 7M and the 2JZ, but the 1UZ is uncharted territory!Anyway, I was driving to work yesterday morning, and looked down at my cluster as the sun was shining directly on it, revealing all the warning lamps I've never seen illuminate (most of which my SC300 didn't even have)...when it occured to me that I hadn't yet seen the CEL come on in this car...at all.
A little instigation revealed that the previous owner (or a less-than-reputable shop) removed the bulb, broke it, and re-installed it.
Just as I suspected, the light was on when I swapped a bulb from the TRAC warning light (my car doesn't have TRAC) and now I'm preparing to get to the bottom of it. It's showing a code 13. However, most of my searching has revealed that this typically occurs post-timing belt replacement, and accompanies idle/performance issues. If it hadn't been for my "aha" moment yesterday morning, I never would have suspected anything is wrong with the car, based on how it runs; idles smooth as a top, revs freely all the way to redline; essentially flawless. Not knowing the full service history of the car, I can't say for sure if the timing belt has been replaced before (the car only has 108k miles), and I'm wondering where to begin.
I plan to start off by checking the timing, visually inspecting the belt to see if it's original or a replacement, and checking the wiring to the cam/crank sensors. Beyond that, I suppose I could clear the code, swap the igniters and see if the code follows the igniter (triggers a code 12).
Any thoughts/experiences are greatly appreciated.
