Unhappy 92 SC400 clunk noise from front left when braking while backing

When backing and touching brakes to slow, I get a thunk noise from right front wheel/brake/suspension area.

Any idea where I should look first?

Thank you!

....Pat

Could be your lower control arm.

I have the exact same thing going on with my 93 SC4 since I bought it. It drives and handles perf. going forward but something jerks and then releases when you hit the brakes backing up. I bought a new strut and bearing plate, and will be pulling that of in the next couple of days. Will also be checking lower control arm and ball joint very carefully. My car has 144,000 miles.

Just had my pass. side caliper off today and the wires are in the pads. Its more of a jerking feeling when backing and hitting the brakes only. Going to go a little further into it on another post.
