Default Ball joint or suspenion noise

Every time I turn hard left or right, I hear this popping noise. Could this be ball joints, or suspension problems? Thanks

Before I say it's the control arms that need replaced can you describe when this happens? Does it only make the noise after the car hasn't been driven for a couple hours? Only at low speeds when backing up or moving forward, like pulling out of a garage or parking spot?

Reason I ask is that the front brake pads can make that same noise when the brakes are cold and you apply the brakes the first couple of times.
